Algeria 28-man Squad for AFCON 2022 | Riyad Mahrez
The reigning champions of the African Cup of Nations, Algeria have announced their squad for AFCON 2022 and are all set to defend the title they won in 2019 in Egypt, beating Senegal 1-0.
The Desert Foxes were on a dominating phase as they later won FIFA Arab Cup, which was held in Qatar this month. Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi announced the final 28-man squad ahead of the African cup of nations.
The list includes high-profile Premier League stars such as Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez and Said Benrahma of West Ham.
Yassine Brahimi, who was the best player in FIFA Arab Cup, has also been called up in the 28-man squad along with the best goalkeeper in FIFA Arab Cup, Rais Mbolhi.
Algeria are in Group E of the African Nations of Cup 2022 besides Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone. They will start their African Cup of Nations journey against Leone at the Japoma Stadium in Douala on January 11, 2022.
