Arsenal opens London Colney training ground as Arteta recovers

Arsenal Football Club has provided fresh update on the condition of their head coach Mikel Arteta who had tested positive for coronavirus on 13th of March.

The statement reassures the Arsenal fans that Arteta’s recovery is on track and his health condition is much better than before.

The club has also decided to re-open their London Colney training ground which they had closed immediately after Arteta was found positive.

Arsenal, in its statement, has also made it clear that the players and the first team support staff are still in isolation.

The incubation period of Coronavirus is of 14 days which means an infected person can start showing symptoms at any stage from two to 14 days.

It is unlikely that Arsenal will allow any of its first team players or the first team staff to return to the training ground before the incubation period finishes.

The training ground will be re-opened for maintenance purposes and only a few club employees are supposed to be coming to work for the next week or so.

Arteta, while in isolation, is understood to be working on future planning and strategy as he is in regular conversation with his staff and the players.

A couple of days ago, Arteta’s wife had also provided an update regarding her husband’s condition by releasing a video on Instagram.

Arteta’s wife insisted that the Gunners’ head coach didn’t reach the dangerous levels of illness at any stage and all he experienced was fever, headache and a mild burn on the chest. However, she requested everyone to be careful.

Here is Arsenal’s statement on Arteta’s condition:

“We're pleased to say that Mikel is feeling much better. He's in good spirits, doing detailed planning with the coaches and speaking to the players regularly.

A number of staff, including Mikel and the men's first team squad, are currently isolating at home. 

Our training centres in London Colney and Hale End were closed for deep cleaning after Mikel's diagnosis with the virus but have now re-opened with a small workforce to maintain the facilities and training pitches.”
