Ashley Young joins Internazionale on a six-month deal

Ashley Young has eventually joined the Serie A side Internazionale after weeks of speculation. Manchester United has reportedly sold him at a transfer fee of £1.28 million.

It has marked the end of Young’s eight and a half year career as a Manchester United player.

Young made the move from Aston Villa to Old Trafford in 2011 and won the Premier League title only in his second season with the Red Devils.

However, once Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out in 2012, Young saw a lot of ups and downs at United as he went on to play under four different managers.

Young did win some trophies in the ted shirt, but the Manchester United squad he was a part of after the Ferguson era wasn’t one of the greatest in the history of the club as it never really challenged for the Premier League or the Champions League title.

The veteran defender was the captain of the current United squad under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ole was not in favour of letting Young go. He reportedly offered the wing-back a one-year contract extension, but the Englishman turned it down.

Internazionale has given Young a short-term contract as per which he will remain at San Siro till the summer of 2020. However, depending on the performance, his association with the club can be extended for a further 12 months.

Young will re-unite with Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, a couple of his ex United teammates who are currently featuring for Inter. While Lukaku has already signed a permanent deal with Inter, Sanchez is there on loan.

After Inter confirmed the signing of Young with a tweet, the 34-year old himself also came up with a tweet thanking Manchester United to allow him to play under Sir Alex Ferguson whom he called the “greatest manager in history".
