Liverpool star opens the door for shock transfer
Liverpool midfield maestro Georginio Wijnaldum has sensationally opened the door to shock move away from Liverpool after admitting "it is difficult to say" what the future holds.
The Dutch international has played a key role behind the Reds' success this season and is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2021.
The Dutch midfielder has scored twice in 22 games for Liverpool this season as they sit 16 points clear at the top of the table in their quest for the first-ever Premier League title in their glorious history.
Liverpool last won the English First Division in 1990 before it was re-branded as the Premier League. They did come agonizingly close on a number of occasions but it seems that no one can stop them from ending their drought this season.
But Wijnaldum is yet to sign an improved deal and has now cryptically hinted at a move away.
The in-demand former PSV midfield ace said: "What would I like? It is difficult to say.
"It depends on what the club wants and how the situation is at that time.
"We will see. [Anfield], it's like home.
"I'm just focusing on bringing this season to a good end and that's the only thing I'm thinking of."
Wijnaldum joined Liverpool from Newcastle in a £25million deal in 2016 and has become one of the first names in Jurgen Klopp's lineup week in week out.
The midfielder also played a vital role in last season's Champions League victory for the Reds.
In the memorable semi-final against Barcelona, trailing 3-0 from the first-leg, Wijnaldum scored twice off the bench as the Reds roared back to win the second-leg 4-0 at Anfield.
Liverpool would go on to beat Tottenham in the final to win their sixth European Cup.
Wijnaldum has been one of the most regular players in the team sheet for the Reds and hardly misses a single game.
And, the way he controls the game and keeps the ball, is pivotal for the system Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp deploys.
