Manchester United want to boost their creativity with James Maddison
Manchester United have been consistently inconsistent throughout the season. While they have done brilliantly against top teams, they have struggled against teams with lesser quality.
One explanation for this unusual record is that teams in the bottom half sit and United forwards are not afforded space to run. While the forwards are gelling well together, the lack of creativity in midfield has given a lot of headache to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
With Paul Pogba set to be out for a long time, Manchester United might take a dip in the January transfer window to address this problem. According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are interested in signing the Leicester midfield James Maddison, who is in red hot form this season.
The English midfielder has played a pivotal part in Leicester's success this season, as the Foxes sit on the second position on the table. Maddison has a happy knack of scoring goals himself and creating opportunities for his teammates. The creative midfielder has scored six goals and made three assists in the Premier League this season.
Earlier, Solskjaer had admitted that few additions are needed in the squad. He further added that the club might look to recruit if the targets become available in the January window.
"You can see the squad and sometimes you think, yeah, one or two additions would do nicely because we are building towards something. It just depends on if what we think will be right for us will be available. Of course, it's playing on our decision-making when we've got two players out for a bit, Scott for two months and Paul for a month." The Norwegian said as quoted by multiple sources
Maddison seems to be a perfect fit for the setup United is trying to build. He seems to have the right DNA, as he is English, and he is just 23, which fits the bill of being young and dynamic.
The biggest roadblock in this deal can be Leicester's run to qualify for the Champions League. Leicester's manager Brendan Rodgers had earlier claimed that no player would be allowed to leave the club, without the will of the board. It won't be easy to convince Leicester to part with their prized asset but a right offer might do it.
