Christian Eriksen in advanced talks with Internazionale
Christian Eriksen has been reported to be in advanced talks with Internazionale, which might result in his departure to San Siro soon.
Eriksen is in the last year of his contract with Tottenham and he has already made it very clear that he is looking for a different challenge. If Spurs doesn’t crack a deal for Eriksen this winter, they won’t get any transfer fees in the summer as Eriksen will be out of contract.
The Spurs' hierarchy wouldn’t mind Internazionale discussing personal terms with the player, but for the deal to materialize, the two clubs will have to agree on the transfer fees eventually.
Tottenham had earlier put a price tag of 130 million pounds on Eriksen, but given the fact that the player will be a free agent next season, they have now brought that number down to 70 million pounds as they are keen on a deal.
Eriksen, in an interview a few months ago, had insisted that while he wanted a different challenge, he wanted a “step-up” in the standard as well; otherwise he wouldn’t mind staying at Tottenham.
“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.” Eriksen had said while talking to the Danish daily Ekstra Bladet.
“There has to be another club too. There aren’t many boxes that Tottenham don’t tick so if I have to move away; it would have to be a step-up.” Eriksen had further added.
While Internazionale is challenging for the title in the Italian top division at the moment, not many people would agree that they are a step-up in comparison to Tottenham, something that Eriksen wanted.
Serie A, however, definitely offers different kind of Football as it is more organized and technical and probably more suited to someone like Eriksen who relies more on his skills than intensity.
