Manchester United looking to bolster midfield in the January window

Premier League giants Manchester United are plotting a move for either Sean Longstaff or Emre Can to help ease their ongoing injury crisis in the middle of the park. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperately looking for reinforcements after Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay were sidelined with injuries.

If reports in England are to be believed, both Sean Longstaff and Emre Can have made Manchester United's wish-list as they look to bolster their midfield. The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of Longstaff but were put off by Newcastle's valuation in the summer. 

The 20-time Premier League champions were expected to make a renewed move for the midfield dynamo at the end of the season but could now bring their plans forward after being left short of options in the middle of the park. 

Manchester United's most expensive player in history, Paul Pogba, is set to undergo surgery on his ankle after being in and out of the team whole season due to injuries. And, despite his lack of form and fitness, he keeps getting linked with an exit from the club with clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus interested in his services. 

McTominay has arguably been the best player at the club this season but he is also out for two months due to knee ligament damage. With the Scot also injured, the Red Devils are now short of both quality and options in the central midfield department. 

Manchester United are also looking to offer former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can a return to the Premier League. The German international has featured for only 272 minutes at Juventus this season and desperately wants out of the Turin club. 

The German has been very scarcely used since the arrival of Mauricio Sarri and the arrivals of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have made his life harder. The German was left furious when he was not even included in the club's Champions League squad.  

At the moment, Can looks like the more likely one to move to Old Trafford as Juventus could be willing to sell the unhappy midfield dynamo. Longstaff would also be a brilliant addition if the long-term impact is considered.
