Iniesta suggests he wouldn’t mind coaching Barcelona alongside Xavi

Andres Iniesta has not ruled out the possibility of getting back to Barcelona in the capacity of a coach in future.

Iniesta is still active as a player and is currently featuring for the Japanese club Vissel Kobe. However, a couple of his former Barcelona teammates have already retired and have taken up coaching roles overseas.

The most prominent player of Barcelona who has recently turned coach is Xavi. He is currently in charge of the Qatari club Al Sadd SC and was in line to take over as the Barcelona boss until very recently. However, he eventually didn’t accept the job.

Iniesta believes Xavi will certainly serve as a coach at Barcelona at some point of time and he wouldn’t mind joining his former midfield partner at Camp Nou when he goes there, but it’s not likely to happen anytime soon.

"The Xavi-Iniesta tandem doesn't sound too bad, but it's not possible right now.” Iniesta was quoted as saying by El Partidazo.

Iniesta had slammed the Barcelona hierarchy a few days ago when the rumors surfaced that they were thinking about replacing Ernesto Valverde with Xavi as the head coach.

While the 35-year old was not entirely against the idea of handing a sack to Valverde, he was not pleased with the way the sacking was being handled by Barcelona. He thought the club’s behavior was not respectful towards the former manager. 

A few of the Barcelona fans didn’t like the fact that Iniesta said Barcelona acted in an “ugly” fashion.

Iniesta himself admits “ugly” might not have been the most perfect word to use for that particular situation, but he insists it doesn’t change the context of his statement.

“If you like, take away the word 'ugly' for any other. What I believe is that the manner wasn't correct. Even Bartomeu (Barcelona president) recognized that.” Iniesta concluded.
